Helen Keller Festival, Inc. is committed to serving the community. With help from our sponsors, we have created two separate scholarship programs for kids and students in Alabama.
Future Leaders Scholarship
Our Future Leaders Scholarship is specifically designed to support students in Alabama who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or visually impaired as they continue in their pursuit of higher education. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who is heading to college or a current college student within the state of Alabama.
Students may apply to this by clicking here. Deadline for 2026 is June 20th.
This scholarship will be presented at the Helen Keller Festival on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
Kids and the Arts Scholarship
For our Kids and the Arts Scholarship, we have partnered with the Tennessee Valley Art Museum to award three scholarships to their Summer Camp sessions. These camps are offered during the summer and introduce kids to many forms of the arts. The Helen Keller Festival is happy to be able to support young minds as they explore the arts.
This scholarship is distributed by the Tennessee Valley Art Museum and is need and income based. If you believe your child may qualify, we encourage you to reach out to them once information on camp sessions has been posted.
We invite any recipient to join us at our Keller’s Canvas event on June 23, 2026 to share what they have learned and/or created.
Future Leaders Scholarship Recipients

Our 2025 recipient was Zakari White. Zakari is in his second year of college at the University of North Alabama. He is currently studying Computer Science. He also takes theater and music classes because they are his passion. With his degree in computer science, it is his goal to develop his own video game.
